Paint and Fiberglass Restoration Specialist (26272)

Diversified Yacht Services, Inc. needs a Paint and Fiberglass Restoration Specialist to join our team to troubleshoot and repair vessels of various sizes for our customers at the newest, most advanced, state-of-the-art Marine Service facility in today’s boating world. The Paint and Fiberglass Restoration Specialist will execute fiberglass repairs and fabrication, paint, and gel coat restoration and preservation. Vessel detailing will also fall under this classification as needed. *DYS is open to considering entry-level candidates with less experience if the candidate demonstrates the willingness and ability to be trained. Entry-level candidates would have the title and salary adjusted to reflect the Paint and Fiberglass Assistant level position. * Essential Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate the condition of yacht finishes, and assist in compiling estimates for work needed including fiberglass, gel coat, and Awl grip paint work, along with coordinating the work with appropriate management and field staff, and overseeing the work done by other field employees in this area Execute approved work as a hands-on technician Wash and prepare vessels in preparation for top-coat treatment and apply compounds and waxes appropriate for each substrate Buff, wax, and final wash-down after the job is complete, and pre-delivery prep Fiberglass fabrication and repair – both structural as well as cosmetic Awl grip paint work on full yacht paint projects and blends and repairs. Assist with detailing as needed Effective communication skills are needed to work with fellow employees, management, and occasionally conversing with the customer. Work with the parts manager in identifying needed supplies. Ability to follow directions in a professional manner. Maintain and turn in appropriate paperwork with regard to time and materials used on each job Education, Experience, Licensing *Qualifications listed below reflect the Paint and Fiberglass Restoration Specialist level, however, candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered for the Paint and Fiberglass Assistant level. * 3 to 5+ years’ field experience in fiberglass repair, fabrication, paint restoration, and application (entry-level candidates with 1+ years of experience will also be considered). Experience in using volatile organic compounds and other toxic chemicals including, but not limited to: acetone, styrene, epoxy resin, polyester resin, vinyl-ester resin and gel coats, MEK peroxide, paint thinners, and other specialty topside paint products and additives Experience in applying finishes using manual and pneumatic (spray) applications Experience using both Awl grip & Awl grip 2000. Experience in the application of various compounds & waxes using manual or mechanical processes Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record. An unsatisfactory driving record would contain infractions worse than minor traffic violations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Overall knowledge of fiberglass, gelcoat, and paint finishes Ability to recognize different exterior coatings and how to treat and service each one Ability to recognize and know when to ask for assistance Ability to protect work area, as well as be aware of how ongoing work affects vessels and structures in the immediate vicinity of the work being executed Ability to operate gasoline and electrical compressors, and be familiar with their maintenance needs Physical Requirements Ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, and kneel Perform prolonged standing Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis Lift/push/pull a battery weighing 59 pounds without assistance on a regular basis Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. on a regular basis to move buckets of water, ladders, supplies, and maneuver electric polisher. As one of our Marine Technicians, you will be responsible for performing quality maintenance, service, and installations on all marine equipment, including small auxiliary engines (sailboats & generators) as well as main propulsion engines on larger yachts and outboard, sterndrive boats. Strong technical skills will be necessary to investigate, troubleshoot, and diagnose all aspects of marine/yacht systems including, but not limited to: running gear/cutlass bearings; engine alignment; steering systems; hydraulic/plumbing systems; shaft seals service/installations; general maintenance of yachts; bottom painting and coatings application as well as bilge cleaning; repowering and rigging; annual services, oil changes/impellers/heat exchangers. You must be computer literate with reports and discoveries diagnostics and also possess all necessary tools to perform the repairs and diagnostics. Some overtime, weekends, and holiday work may be required. This role involves acting as the liaison between the customer and technical staff, scheduling vessels and technicians, and managing work orders to ensure timely completion and accurate invoicing. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic working environment and can expect to spend a significant portion of their day in the yard and on vessels, with additional time dedicated to client communication and administrative tasks. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, the Service Coordinator will keep the management team and support staff informed of progress, challenges, and other developments. Responsibilities include scheduling repair work for marine engines, generators, and vessel systems, coordinating with technicians and parts personnel to ensure the parts are available for repairs to be done correctly in a timely matter, answering service calls, meeting with customers, providing written estimates or quotes, and communicating with customers throughout the repair process. Strong technical knowledge is essential, covering various aspects of marine/yacht systems maintenance and repair. In addition to coordinating repair work and customer communication, the Service Coordinator will play a crucial role in the invoice process. This includes assisting with invoice generation and ensuring accuracy in billing. The Service Coordinator will liaise with manufacturers and extended warranty companies to obtain necessary approvals in advance of repairs when required and take precautions necessary to guarantee our payment. Marina Yard Worker/Laborer (26070)

A qualified Yard Worker will be a self-starter and a dedicated worker knowledgeable in the Marine and Boating Industry. The person should be flexible to fulfill the various tasks in the boat yard including, but not limited to the following: Pressure washing, media blasting, scraping, sanding, and applying paint to the bottoms of vessels and running gear Washing and drying customer’s vessels including polishing glass and waxing by hand or electric polisher. Vessel cleaning including: detailing and cleaning the interior of the vessels such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, steam-cleaning carpets and upholstery, and cleaning heads, galley, and the engine room. Assisting with travel lift and forklift operations. Building maintenance as assigned. To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements: 6 months in a laborer role.
